To ensure proper brake system functioning, inspect flexible hoses connecting steel brake lines to the front and rear brake assemblies every six months. Raise the vehicle securely on jack stands and carefully examine hoses for cracks, chafing, leaks, blisters, or damage using a light and mirror. Replace any defective hoses. To replace hoses, clean dirt from hose ends and disconnect the brake line from the hose fitting without bending the frame bracket or line. Use penetrating oil if necessary. Remove the U-clip from the female fitting at a bracket and detach the hose from the bracket. If the hose is directly connected to the caliper, disconnect the hose fitting from the caliper by removing the banjo bolt. Replace copper washers and attach a new hose to the Brake Caliper. Detach the hose from the front shock absorber bracket. Pass female fitting through the frame or frame bracket with the least twist in the hose and install fitting in this position. Install U-clip in female fitting at frame bracket. Attach the brake line to the hose fitting using a backup wrench on the fitting and tighten the tube nut securely. Check that suspension or steering components do not contact the hose by having an assistant push down on a vehicle and turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock during the inspection. Finally, bleed brake lines to ensure proper operation. Always use appropriate steel brake lines instead of copper tubing when replacing brake lines. Prefabricated brake lines with flared ends and fittings can be purchased. Carefully bend the line to the correct shape using a tube bender if necessary. During installation, ensure the new line is well supported in brackets and has sufficient clearance from moving or hot components. After installation, check the brake fluid reservoir level and add fluid if needed. Bleed brake system and thoroughly tested brakes before returning the vehicle to normal operation.
