Despite being non-serviceable, the same sealed bearing is held by snap ring in the same location as before installed in the steering knuckle on 1987 through 1992 models. When it comes to front bearing problems, it is always best to let a dealer service department or at least a reputable shop to put in new bearings. Removing front hub is necessary for examining front wheel bearings that is a standard procedure. When there is an assumed case of a wheel bearing, the analyst has to use a dial indicator to measure the in and out play on the spindle of the hub. If these factors are overplayed then it is the technician's hint that it is time for the wheel bearings to be serviced as well as the bearing preload to be adjusted. During the disassembly of the hub, if there is any wear of the bearings and races, then this can easily be seen and replaced if required.

When inspecting the front wheel bearings, spin each wheel and check for noise, rolling resistance, and free play. If there is noticeable movement, the bearings should be checked and either repacked with grease or replaced if necessary.
