Remove the door trim panel and the plastic water shield. Reach inside the door and disconnect the control links from the latch. Remove the latch retaining screws from the end of the door and detach the door latch along with the door lock solenoid if equipped. Installation follows the reverse order of removal. Working through the access holes in the door, disconnect the control rods from the lock cylinder and outside handle. Loosen the screw with a Tone bit and pull the lock cover and lock cylinder from the outside of the door. To remove the outside handle, disconnect the control rod and remove the two mounting screws inside the door. If replacing the outside handle assembly, disconnect the rod and door operating cable from the handle assembly and transfer them to the new handle. Use a screwdriver to pry the retaining clip off or remove the lock cylinder retaining bolt and take out the lock cylinder from the handle, with installation being the reverse of removal. Remove the retaining screw and pull the handle free, disconnecting the cables from the inside handle control before removing the handle from the door. Installation is again the reverse of removal.

To ensure smooth operation, it is recommended to lubricate the Door Hinge, Door Lock, Hood Hinge, Hood Latch, and Trunk Lid Latch of the vehicle as part of regular maintenance. Applying light oil or lock lubricant every 3000 miles or every three months helps prevent rust and corrosion while promoting proper functioning. Additionally, greasing the door latch strikers reduces wear and allows for unrestricted movement. Door and trunk locks should be lubricated with a spray-on graphite lubricant to prevent sticking or seizing. Following these lubrication procedures contributes to the longevity and reliability of the vehicle's mechanisms.

To remove the Door Latch Assembly, remove the door trim panel, the plastic water shield, and the door panel brace. Disconnect the control links from the latch. If the vehicle has power door locks, disconnect the electrical connector at the latch. Remove the latch retaining screws at the end of the door. Detach the door latch as well as the door lock solenoid. For installation, simply follow the reverse order of removal. For the lock cylinder and outside handle, work through the access holes in the door to disconnect the control rods from the Door Lock Cylinder and outside Door Handle. Loosen the screw with a Torque bit and remove the lock cover and lock cylinder. To remove the outside handle, slide it to the rear, and then remove the handle. If you need to remove the outside handle assembly, disconnect the rod and door-opening cable from the handle assembly. Remove the two screws securing the frame to the door. Press on the plastic clip to release the frame. Use a screwdriver to pry off the retaining clip or remove the lock cylinder retaining bolt. The installation process for the lock cylinder and outside handle is the reverse of the removal steps. To remove the inside handle, remove the clip at the rear of the handle assembly. Pull the handle free, disconnect the cables from the inside handle control, and remove the handle. Installation is the reverse of removal.
