To remove the intake manifold, one has to relieve the fuel system pressure and then separate the cable from the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery. Eliminate the PCV hose joined at the back of the intake manifold, as well as the intake air connector and the throttle body; most significantly; it is necessary to clamp off the hoses to avoid leakage of the coolant. Remove vacuum hoses and dipstick tube from the intake manifold and subsequent to this, the fuel rail and injectors. Disconnect all other interfering items such as wiring harness and the heater hose from the manifold and then, unscrew the heater hose bracket at the rear portion of the manifold and then, the coolant hose from the clip at the back of the intake manifold. Last of all, unscrew the bolts holding the intake manifold to the engine block and pull off the manifold off the cylinder head. On this point, it is required to remove the old gasket and clean the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and the cylinder head; afterwards, you need to install a new gasket on the intake manifold and put it onto the cylinder head and tighten the bolts and nuts. This is done in three progression with equal steps to those torque values given to prevent the warping of nuts and bolts. Fit the rest of the parts back, start the engine and look for any sign of leakage and take it for a road test to confirm its functionality.

To replace the upper intake manifold, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, then remove the engine cover, air intake duct, and air filter housing. Next, clamp off and disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body, followed by disconnecting the EVAP system fuel vapor feed hose, ventilation hose, and throttle body wiring. Disconnect the two Vacuum Switching Valve electrical connectors, remove the throttle body bracket bolts and the bracket, then take off the baffle plate. Remove the bolts from each intake manifold support bracket and the upper intake manifold mounting nuts and bolts, checking the condition of the upper intake manifold gasket for reuse if it is not damaged. For the lower intake manifold, first remove the upper intake manifold, then if replacing the lower intake manifold, remove the fuel rail; if only replacing gaskets, disconnect the fuel supply and return line connections. Remove the lower intake manifold bolts and the manifold itself, discarding old gaskets and cleaning the mating surfaces thoroughly. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring new gaskets are used and tightening the bolts in a criss-cross pattern to the specified torque.

1. Remove all traces of old gasket from the intake manifolds and clean the mating surfaces with brake system cleaner. 2. Install new gaskets into the grooves on the manifold. Position the intake manifold on the engine and install the fasteners. 3. Tighten the fasteners in three or four equal steps to the specific torque, working from the center outwards to avoid warping. 4. Install the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal. 5. Refill the cooling system. Run the engine and check for fuel, vacuum, and coolant leaks around the throttle body hoses.
