Toyota 04466-0E010 Rear Disc Brake Pad Kit

Start by pulling off the cap on your Highlander's brake fluid reservoir before working. Before you start, release the wheel's nuts, lift the vehicle, and keep it safely supported on jackstands while you block the wheels by your feet. Take off the wheels, look closely at the brake disc, and if you need to lower it by sanding, do that while you have access to the pad. Squeeze the piston back using a C-clamp to open up room for the new pads - be sure to keep the brake fluid from leaking out. First clean the front brake area with brake cleaner, take off the bottom caliper bolt, and carefully disconnect the caliper without letting it drop by the brake hose. Take off both pad layers, remember to put shims back correctly, and add disc brake grease on both sides of the pads. First, put on the new brake pads and shims in their right places. After cleaning and lubricating the sliding pins, replace any pin boots that are broken. For the rear brake pads, start by cleaning the whole assembly. Unscrew the caliper bolt, hold the caliper in place while taking out the pads, and their holding shims. Replace clean shims and put in new pads, lubricate these components, and build the brake storage. Wipe and lube the problem parts on the calipers, and put everything back on, making sure the new pads fit under the caliper. Before driving, check all bolts for proper torque, bring the brakes to a complete stop during testing, check your brake fluid level, and ensure that your braking works properly before sending the vehicle back into service.
