How to Replace the Brake Pad Set on Toyota Highlander?

Start by pulling off the cap on your Highlander's brake fluid reservoir before working. Before you start, release the wheel's nuts, lift the vehicle, and keep it safely supported on jackstands while you block the wheels by your feet. Take off the wheels, look closely at the brake disc, and if you need to lower it by sanding, do that while you have access to the pad. Squeeze the piston back using a C-clamp to open up room for the new pads - be sure to keep the brake fluid from leaking out.
