Toyota 16100-59105 Engine Water Pump Assembly

Disconnect the negative battery cable and drain the cooling system. Ensure you have the stereo's anti-theft activation code. Remove the power steering belt, alternator/water pump belt, and air conditioning belt. For 1992 and earlier models, remove the power steering idler pulley, bracket, and alternator brace. Remove the fan shroud, fan assembly, and water pump pulley. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose and bypass hose. Remove the water pump and replace the gaskets. Clean all sealing surfaces and reassemble the water pump. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the water pump bolts, refill the cooling system, and check for leaks.

Do not mistake drivebelt slippage, which causes a squealing sound, for water pump failure. Spray automotive drivebelt dressing on the belts to eliminate the belt as a possible cause of the noise.
