Lubricate the seal lip and apply petroleum jelly to the pump drive and driven rotors before positioning them in the timing chain cover with the pump marks facing out. Pack the pump cavity with petroleum jelly to help prime the pump, install the cover, and tighten the cover bolts to the specified torque. Lubricate the oil pressure relief valve with clean engine oil, insert the valve and spring into the pump cover, and screw in the plug, tightening it to the specified torque. Finally, install the timing chain cover, complete the installation in reverse order of removal, add oil, install a new filter, and run the engine to check for leaks.

To remove the engine, first detach the oil pan, oil pick-up tube, and strainer. Next, take off the timing belt along with the number 1 and number 2 idler pulleys, followed by the crankshaft timing sprocket and crankshaft position sensor, noting that the oil pump body is located behind the crankshaft sprocket. Place the drive and driven rotors into the pump body with the marks facing out, pack the pump cavity with petroleum jelly, and install the cover, tightening the screws securely in a criss-cross pattern. Lubricate the oil pressure relief valve with engine oil and install the valve components in the pump body. Clean the gasket surfaces with acetone or lacquer thinner to remove all traces of oil, then apply a 2 to 3 mm wide bead of RTV sealant to the oil pump, ensuring not to use excessive amounts, especially around oil passages and bolt holes, and complete the assembly within five minutes of sealant application. Position a new O-ring on the block at the top of the oil pump, engage the spline teeth on the oil pump drive rotor with the large teeth on the crankshaft, and slide the pump into place. Install the oil pump mounting bolts in their original locations and tighten them to the specified torque in a criss-cross pattern. Using a new gasket, install the oil pick-up tube and tighten the fasteners to the specified torque. Finally, reinstall the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal, refill the engine oil and coolant, start the engine, and check for oil leaks.

Measure the driven rotor-to-body clearance with a feeler gauge, use a straightedge and feeler gauge to measure the rotor-to-cover clearance, and measure the rotor lip clearance with a feeler gauge. Compare the results.
