    Remove the engine/transaxle assembly. Next, you will follow by removing the driveplate. Search and pry the Crankshaft Seal at the rear of the engine using a screwdriver while care is taken not to cut the crankshaft or seal bore. See how deep the seal is set back in the bore prior to removal to cover the distance which the new seal is to be set back into. Wipe down the rubber seal bore in the block cleanly with a shop towel with no remnants of oil or dirt. Coat the outside diameter of the new seal with a little bit of oil and slide the new seal over the end of the crankshaft, with the lip facing the engine. Where possible, it is preferred to involve a seal installation tool to push the new seal upwards into position; in shortage of this, a large socket, section of the pipe, or blunt end of the tool can be used to gently hammer the new seal until it fits snugly and sits flat against the outer rims of the engine block. Lastly, place the driveplate and secure it properly; place the transaxle on the engine and then fit both the engine and the transaxle back together.
