To work safely on the car, loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels, lift the back of the car until only the axle tips the ground, and put jackstands firmly under the frame, not under the axle. Put wheel stops in front of the tires to keep your vehicle from moving while you lift it up. Take off the back wheels before continuing. Put a jack under the rear axle housing between the two differentials. Use a wire attached to underneath to tie down the driveshaft next to the differential while you disconnect it. Remove the rear driveaxles. Remove six of the seven bolts that hold the differential in place: two at the back and four at the front. Drop the jack below the differential, take off the rear axle/differential from under the vehicle. By securing every suspension connection correctly, reversing removal is how you install. Follow this procedure when securing the rear axle assembly on Sequoia models: First, tighten the rearmost of four front mounting bolts, then proceed forward; then, bolt up the two rear ones, starting by heavily fastening the lower bolt before tapping the upper fastener. On Tundra models, bleed the brakes.
