Follow the accompanying illustrations for the brake shoe replacement procedure, which includes: - Removing the rear parking brake shoe return spring from the anchor pin and unhooking it from the rear shoe. - Removing the front parking brake shoe return spring from the anchor pin and unhooking it from the front shoe. - Removing the rear shoe hold-down spring and pulling out the pin. - Removing the shoe strut from between the shoes. - Removing the front shoe hold-down spring and pulling out the pin. - Removing the adjuster and the tension spring. - Popping the C-washer off the pivot pin on the back of the rear shoe and pulling the parking brake lever off the pivot pin. - Applying a thin coat of high-temperature grease to the contact surfaces of the backing plate. - Sliding the parking brake lever onto the pivot pin and installing a new C-washer. - Attaching the tension spring to the back side of the rear shoe and to the back side of the front shoe. - Flipping the shoes around and installing the adjuster, ensuring both ends are properly engaged with the shoes. - Placing the shoes in position and installing the strut and spring, ensuring the ends of the strut are properly engaged with the shoes. - Installing the front shoe return spring and the rear shoe return spring. - Installing the rear shoe hold-down spring and the front shoe hold-down spring. - Ensuring the parking brake assembly looks correct when finished.

Follow the accompanying illustrations for the brake shoe replacement procedure. Mark the relationship of the drum to the hub to ensure that the dynamic balance is unaltered. Install the adjuster lever over the pin on the front shoe, with the bottom of the lever between the shoe and the adjuster. Be sure to stay in order and read the caption under each illustration.
