Take the battery cable away from the negative terminal of the battery. On Avalon models, remove the center trim panel. When you open the navigation unit cover, take out the fasteners. Its backside will appear. Pull the radio unit outward, disconnect its wires, and unplug the antenna cable. Take off the screws on either side of the audio/navigation unit's mounting points and easily slide it forward. Unscrew the radio unit from the mounting brackets, pull it outwards to get to the backside, and unplug the connected parts from the heater and A/C control panel. Then separate the radio portion from the navigation portion. Installation is the reverse of removal. Unplug the speaker from the door panel, and take off all the screws that keep it in place to quickly pull it out. Detach the wiring connection and take out the speaker from the car. Installation is the reverse of removal. Start by using a trim tool to remove the speaker covers carefully. Take off the screws, and take the speakers out by pulling them up. Unplug the cable connection, and take the speaker apart line by line. Installation is the reverse of removal. Take out the back seats, then remove the package shelf in back. Take out the mounting screws, then lift the speaker up. Hit the release button on the connector and take out the speaker from where it's attached to the shelf. Installation is the reverse of removal.

To remove the radio from the vehicle, you need to remove the mounting bolts and pull the radio outward to access the backside. Then, disconnect the electrical connectors and antenna lead.
