Toyota 28100-0S050 Starter Assembly

To remove and install the starter motor in V6 models, disconnect the negative battery terminal cable. Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Remove the engine under-cover and disconnect the electrical connectors from the starter motor/solenoid assembly. Remove the starter motor mounting bolts and take out the starter motor. The installation process is the reverse. For VB models with 4.7L engines, remove the upper intake manifold to access the starter. For other V8 engines, loosen the right front wheel lug nuts and raise the front of the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and engine under-cover. Remove the power steering pump, alternator, exhaust pipe, and manifold. Remove the starter motor heat shield and disconnect the electrical connectors. Remove the starter motor by taking out the mounting bolts. The installation process is the reverse.

In VB models with 4.7L (2UZ-FE) engines, the starter is located on top of the engine between the cylinder heads, underneath the upper intake manifold. To remove it, you will need to remove the upper intake manifold.
