    Q:
How to remove and install the Ignition Lock Cylinder and ignition switch on a 2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner? Posted by Customer
    A:
Pull off the cable that is connected to the negative terminal of the battery and then you remove the airbag. Disconnect and take off the knee bolster trim panel. For the ignition lock cylinder, select the illumination ring and, grasping on the release tab, proceed to pull out the switch. Switch the ignition key into the ACC position while it is still in the off position. Locate the stop pin in the lock cylinder housing and gently drive it down using an awl or a small punch and gently pull it straight to remove the lock cylinder. These are procedures that involve the opposite of each other; Installation is the procedure of putting into place. For the ignition switch, the left insulating panel must be also released and the electrical connector must be detached by a release tab. Disconnect the ignition switch from the lock cylinder housing, by undoing the ignition switch retaining screws. Removal and installation are simply the opposite of each other.

    Q:
How to disconnect and remove the Ignition Lock Cylinder and Ignition Switch on a Toyota Highlander? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition switch by depressing the release tab and pulling off the connector. Remove the ignition switch retaining screws and detach the switch from the Ignition Lock Cylinder housing, then installation is the reverse of removal. Place the ignition key in the ACC position. If the vehicle has an immobilizer system, disconnect the electrical connector from the immobilizer module, then slide the immobilizer module and the Ignition Lock Cylinder illumination ring as a single assembly. Use an awl or punch to depress the Ignition Lock Cylinder retaining pin and remove the Ignition Lock Cylinder from the housing by ensuring the lock cylinder is in the ACC position, inserting the awl or punch into the small hole in the housing, pushing it in to depress the retaining pin, and pulling out the Ignition Lock Cylinder. To install the lock cylinder, depress the retaining pin and guide it into the housing until the retaining pin extends back into the locating hole. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. Remove the knee bolster panel and center trim panel. Using a trim tool, carefully pry the switch panel out from the instrument panel, then disconnect the electrical connector from the engine start switch and remove the switch from the back side of the panel, with installation being the reverse of removal.

Depress the lock cylinder retaining pin with a small screwdriver or punch and pull the cylinder straight out. How to check and replace the Ignition Lock Cylinder and Ignition Switch on a Toyota Sienna? Posted by Customer
    A:
To check the ignition switch, trace the wire from the ignition switch to the main wiring harness connector and disconnect it. Using an ohmmeter or self-powered test light along with the accompanying diagrams, check for continuity between the indicated switch terminals with the switch in each of the indicated positions; if the continuity isn't as specified, replace the switch. For replacement, first disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and place the ignition key in the ACC position. Next, remove the steering wheel, followed by the steering column covers, and then the steering column switches. Unplug the ignition switch wiring harness connectors and detach the switch retaining screws to remove the ignition switch assembly from the steering column. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the lock cylinder, use a small screwdriver or punch to depress the lock cylinder retaining pin, then pull straight out on the lock cylinder assembly to remove it from the vehicle. To install the lock cylinder, depress the retaining pin and guide it into the steering column housing until the retaining pin extends back into the locating hole. The remainder of the installation follows the reverse of removal.
