To replace the hazard warning switch on a Camry model, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, use a trim tool to carefully pry the registers from the center of the instrument panel and disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the switch. Remove the screws and detach the switch from the panel. For Avalon models, remove the center trim panel and disconnect the electrical connector before removing the switch from between the A/C heater registers. For Lexus models, remove the center cluster finish panel and separate the radio from the heater/air conditioning control panel assembly to access the hazard warning switch. To replace the power mirror control switch, remove the knee bolster trim panel and the driver's side trim panel from the instrument panel. Disconnect the electrical connector and disengage the mounting clips from the back side. On Camry models, pry the switch from the trim panel and disconnect the electrical connector. The defogger control switch and A/C control switch are one unit and must be replaced together. To replace the instrument panel illumination rheostat, remove the driver's side trim panel and carefully pry the switch from the instrument panel. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the switch. For power outlets, carefully pry the switch base from the center console on Avalon and Lexus models. Disconnect the electrical connector and push the outlet through the panel. Finally, to replace the engine switch on smart key models, remove the driver's side trim panel, unplug the engine switch wiring harness connectors, and pull the switch from the control assembly.

The installation for all switches is the reverse of the removal procedure.
