The brake light switch is located on the brake pedal bracket and to inspect it, one has to slot off the electrical connector, rotate unlock plate 90 degrees counterclockwise and pull it off. When the brake pedal is off the floor the switch is in the state that breaks the brake light circuit and when the driver presses the brake pedal it is in condition that connects the brake light circuit with current. If the brake lights do not come on, inspect the fuse and bulb; should they be okay, make sure that there is voltage at the switch. Without voltage, perform a search for a cut at between the fuse block and the switch. If voltage is present pull the brake pedal and then check the other side of the switch for the presence of voltage. If there is no voltage there replace the switch, if there is voltage and the lights do not work replace the switch, if there is voltage and the brake light still do not work check for open circuit between the switch and the brake lights. Still, do not exclude the possibility that all brake light bulbs may be burned out. For replacement, about the brake light switch, first pull the electrical connector off, then turn the switch clockwise for 90 degree to unlock it as well as pull out the switch fully. To install the new switch, while holding the brake pedal up, put the new switch into its holder and turn it 90 degrees clockwise; this should bring it into the right position to clear the switch at around 2mm from the brake pedal rubber stop of the bracket. Last of all, ensure that the brake lights operate correctly by testing then plug the electrical connector to the switch and get back the car to normal use.

Check the brake light switch properly before assuming the switch is faulty, if the brake lights aren't working, check the fuse and the bulbs. If they're operating properly, check the switch for voltage output. Scan around for an open circuit between components like the fuse block and switch, if there's no voltage. If there's power, apply pressure on the brake pedal and check the voltage on the other side. Purchase a new switch if there is no voltage. If there is voltage but the lights aren't working, find an open circuit between the switch and the lights, remove the electrical connector, rotate it counterclockwise to loosen it from its holder, and remove the switch from the holder. Setting up the switch starts by inserting it into the holder, pushing it in until it touches the rubber stop, and rotating it clockwise to secure it in place. make sure proper clearance to the rubber stop is (0.020 to 0.098 inches). Once you are done putting everything back together, test the brake lights before operating it.

To remove the brake light switch, start by moving the driver's seat fully to the rear for maximum working space. Disconnect the wiring plug from the brake light switch located at the top of the brake pedal bracket, then loosen the switch locknut and withdraw the switch from the bracket. For refitting, reverse the removal process. After fitting and reconnecting the switch, check its operation by having an assistant observe the brake lights while you push the brake pedal in by hand approximately 5 to 10 mm, adjusting the brake light switch so that the lights just turn off. Release the pedal and slowly press it again to ensure the brake lights illuminate before the pedal has traveled 15 mm. Additionally, the brake light can be adjusted by measuring the clearance between the switch plunger and the top of the pedal, comparing it with the specified measurement.
