You can disconnect the battery's negative cable and drain the cooling system. For the front heater core, remove the instrument panel, and defroster ducting. Detach the heater pipes from the core and replace them. Install the new core with new O-rings and refill the cooling system. For the rear heater core in four-door models, discharge the AC system, disconnect the coolant lines, and remove the rear seats and trim. Remove the heating duct and the rear heater core. Install the new core with new O-rings and refill the cooling system. For 2003 and earlier five-door models, disconnect the coolant lines, remove the front seats and console, and remove the rear heating unit and heater core. Install the new core and refill the cooling system.
