- Q:How to remove and install Oil Pan for the 1986 Toyota MR2?Posted by Austen B.A:Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, then raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Clean the exterior surfaces of the transaxle near the pan to prevent dirt from contaminating internal components during the pan removal. Drain the transaxle fluid, remove the pan bolts, and carefully lower the pan, discarding the old gasket. Scrape off all old gasket material from the mating surfaces of the transaxle housing and the pan with a razor blade, then wash the pan with clean solvent. Install the pan with a new gasket, ensuring the magnet at the bottom of the pan is in place to prevent harmful metal particles from contaminating the fluid before bolting it to the transaxle. Tighten the pan bolts to the specified torque, install the drain plug, and tighten it to the specified torque. Fill the transaxle with two liters of ATF Dexron II, start the engine to allow the fluid to circulate and build pressure, then recheck and fill it to the specified level.Answered by Toyota Parts Specialist Phil / Mar 16, 2023
