Take off the restrictive timing belt covers, take out the negative cable on the battery, and drain the coolant. Subsequently, take out the timing belt as well as the crankshaft sprocket from the engine. When preparing the unit to place a new seal, it is recommended that multi-purpose grease should be spread across the outer circumference together with lip. Place the new seal into the case bore and then use a seal driver or a large socket and hammer to drive it in until it bottoms out without mangling the seal. If a socket is available it should be larger than the seal but with an outside diameter somewhat smaller than the ID of the seal; if a section of pipe is to be used this is should have an outside diameter of the order of the ID of th seal. Last there is installation, that means the same is reverse of removal.
