  How to Remove and Install the Rear Wheel Hub and Bearing Assembly for the 2010 Toyota Prius?

  To SaS the hub and bearing assembly on the 2009 and earlier models, first, loosen the lug nuts of the wheel, raise the car with a jack and secure it on jackstands before you remove the wheel. Subsequently, remove the brake drum and then remove the wheel speed sensor wire. Next, take out the gap adjusting lever, brake shoe boucher along with its spring and ultimately the four bolts used in the connection of the hub and the axel beam which are from the behind side of the brake backing plate. Slowly retract the hub and bearing assembly through the brake assembly and in any case of looseness or high runout of the hub and bearing assembly replace it as a unit. First for the 2010 and later models turn the rear-wheel lug nuts, then jack up the vehicle and place the vehicle on jack stands before removing both the rear wheels. Including:-unbolt the brake caliper assembly without a need to disconnect the brake line or parking brake cable,-unbolt the brake caliper mounting bracket and, finally,-unbolt the rear brake disc. Finally pullout the mounting bolts from the hub assembly and take out the hub assembly along with the dust shield. For install, place the hub together with bearing in the axle carrier, align the holes in the backing plate, then install all the bolts of the assembly and tighten them. To complete the process, perform an inverse of the removal steps; fit the wheel and lug nuts, raise the car and finally, tighten the lug nuts.
