Before taking out the stereo, attach the positive electrode back to the battery. Be sure to have the stereo's protection code as needed. First remove the center front panel pieces. Then pull the control knobs free by taking off the selector knob and pulling the knobs from the rotary switches. First, unscrew the screws holding the control together, then lift the assembly slightly out from the front of the dash. When there are cables present, turn the twist flags on each control cable holder and take off the cables. Remove their electrical connectors after unplugging them. Installation is the reverse of removal. Press the engine buttons to ensure that the A/C Switch works correctly. When the cables connect to the control and the dashboard control is ready, move the cables back and forth until the controls match RECYCLE, COOL, and DEF settings. To put the air inlet damper control cable in, position the damper lever to FRESH, install the cable, and hold it stable with a clamp. Before connecting the air mix control cable, move the air mix damper to COOL position. Insert the cable and tighten the clamp while applying gentle force on the outer cable. Put the mode damper control cable in DEF mode, line up the cable end with its connection, and hold it tight with the clamp. Test the air conditioning and heater controls, then check for electrical connection problems. When a test spotlights a faulty switch, we need to replace the control modules immediately.
