Remove the
Crankshaft Pulley. Screw a self-tapping screw into the face of the old Crankshaft Seal and using a pair of long-nosed-pliers and a piece of a timber to lever against, lever the old seal from the timing cover. Fitting a self-tapping screw helps to pull the old seal out. Lightly lubricate the seal with oil or grease, and position it over the crankshaft. Work equally round the seal, tapping it squarely into the carrier until it is flush with the edge. Install the crankshaft pulley. Remove the
Flywheel or driveplate. Using the same method, remove the rear main seal. Lightly lubricate the seal with oil or grease, and position it over the crankshaft. Work equally round the seal, tapping it squarely into the carrier until it is flush with the edge. If a tube of the same diameter as the seal is available, this will help to ensure the seal is pressed squarely into place. Otherwise, the seal should be pressed in evenly using a blunt instrument. Work equally round the seal, tapping it squarely into place until it is fitted to the same depth as the old one. Refit the flywheel or driveplate.
