How to remove and refit the front Hood Cable on Toyota Echo?

If the cable has broken, determine which end has failed; if the break is inside the car, it may be possible to remove the release lever and operate the remains of the cable to open the hood. If the break is under the hood, it can be opened through the radiator grille aperture or from underneath. The hood cable lever is located on the lower facia panel, to the right of the steering wheel. Under the hood, prise out the outer cable end fitting from its slot in the hood lock, then unhook the inner cable from the lock operating lever. Release the cable from the clips and brackets in the engine compartment, noting its routing. Tie a length of string to the end of the cable at the release lever inside the car, then carefully pull the cable through the bulkhead grommet into the engine compartment. Untie the string from the end of the cable and leave it in position to aid refitting. Refitting is a reversal of removal; tie the string to the release lever end of the cable and use it to pull the cable into position, ensuring that the cable is routed as noted before removal and that the bulkhead grommet is correctly seated.
