How to remove and install an automotive air conditioning compressor?

Have a technician discharge the refrigerant and disconnect the battery. Ensure you have the stereo's anti-theft code if needed. Remove the compressor's drivebelt, electrical connector, and refrigerant lines. Unbolt and remove the compressor. If installing a new one, follow the provided instructions for oil level. Installation is the reverse of removal. Replace any O-rings with new ones suitable for your refrigerant type and lubricate with appropriate oil. Have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by the discharging shop.
