Disconnect the negative battery cable, ensuring you have the correct activation code for the radio's anti-theft system if applicable. Remove the steering wheel and the center floor console. Take out all dashboard trim panels, including the glove box, instrument cluster bezel, radio trim bezel, and the driver side lower knee bolster. Remove the radio and instrument cluster, followed by the heater control panel. Detach the nuts and bolts securing the fuse box and hood release handle. If the vehicle has fuel injection, remove the ECM from behind the glove box. Remove the steering column mounting bolts and lower the steering column to the floor. For FJ60 and FJ62 series vehicles, remove the instrument panel pad. Take out the bolts securing the instrument panel, then pull the instrument panel towards the rear of the vehicle, detaching any electrical connectors that interfere with removal. Lift the instrument panel up and out to remove it from the vehicle, with installation being the reverse of removal.
