The switch, marked 'N' is mounted on the right hand side of the casing and limits starter ENGAGEMENT to NEUTRAL/PARK positions and also activates the BACK-UP LIGHTS in REVERSE position. In case the engine starts and the shift lever is in any other position other than Park or Neutral, then the switch either needs to be adjusted or replaced. First, turn the shift lever to Neutral; next safely jack up the car and support it on jack stands.
