Q: How to remove and replace a drive axle,CV Joint and CV Boot?
A: To remove and replace a Axle Shaft, start by removing the axle and painting match marks on the joint tulip and the axle. Then, pry loose the outer clamps and cut the inner clamps and drive shaft damper clamp. Next, separate the inboard joint tulip from the tripod joint and remove the CV Boot, drive axle damper, and outboard joint boot. Remove the tripod joint snap ring and punch match marks on the tripod and axle. Use a hammer and brass punch to drive the tripod joint from the axle. Slide off the inboard joint boot, damper, and outboard joint boot. Wash the CV joints thoroughly and inspect the inboard tripod joint for wear or damage. Bend the outboard CV joint housing to expose the bearings, inner race, and cage, and inspect for wear. Slide the new outboard boot onto the axle, add grease, and install new clamps. If overhauling the right axle, install the damper and clamp. Slide the inboard boot onto the axle, align the match marks, tap the tripod onto the axle, and install the snap ring. Measure the boot length to ensure proper positioning. Install the axle between the side gear shaft and axle hub, being careful not to damage the boots. Finger-tighten the nuts between the axle and side gear shaft. Install the bearing lock nut, tighten to specified torque, and install a new cotter pin. Finally, tighten the nuts holding the axle to the differential side shaft.
