To work on the hazard warning switch, first disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the auxiliary 12-volt battery and ensure the initialization procedure is performed upon reconnection. For models from 2001 to 2003, use a screwdriver wrapped with tape to pry the ends of the hazard warning switch assembly out, then disconnect the electrical connector while lifting it out, with installation being the reverse of removal. For models from 2004 and later, the hazard warning switch is integrated into the multi-display unit, so remove it from there, with installation also being the reverse of removal. The rear window defogger switch is found in the heating and air conditioning control panel; remove the control panel, pull the assembly out to disconnect the electrical connector at the rear of the switch, depress the tab, and remove the switch from the bezel, with installation following the reverse of the removal procedure.
