Remove the negative battery terminal of the vehicle battery, then unbolt the cowl trim panel and the kick panel of the driver's side. After that, remove the upper and the lower steering column covers and the knee bolster trim panel. Unbolt the steering wheel, the front seat and center console to make way for the blocks. Remove the carpeting from the firewall to gain access to and take off the two cable housing mounting retainers and access plate screw on the interior side. It Shifts into neutral, move the steering column shift lever up and released the upper end of the shift cable from the ball socket, while the two tabs of the cable casing are depressed down. Pull the cable out of the cove and disconnect from the cable bracket. Pull back the carpeting and take out the cable housing mounting retainers and the shifter console access plate bolts, then take out the center console and the shifter console. Once more, put the lever into neutral and then pull the shift lever end from the cable, and then take the cap off the casing of the cable. Cable retaining clip should also be pulled out from the center housing. Lift the vehicle with Jacks and support it using jack stands for that purpose, on some models of Sequoia there is rear height control suspension, before lifting it; ensure that the height control in on normal mode and turned off. The nut holding the shift cable to manual lever should be loosened, the shift cable pulled off, and the retainer clip also unscrewed. Unplug the cable on every cable bracket and the bolt that fix cable housing to the body and pull the cable thorough the floor then you can remove. Cabling and removing for both ends of the cable is the opposite of installation whereby the grommet should be positioned correctly and the cable is checked and adjusted if necessary. For change, shift the lever to the neutral position, retract the cable adjuster case boot, slide out the lock piece by pulling the slider away from it, and finally releasing the lock piece. Allow the adjuster case's spring to put pressure on the cable to align it, push the lock piece into the case, and also remove the slider to lock the same. Slide the lever to go through every gears while being keen on checking and realigning the position indicator on the shift lever to match that on the shift cable; if the two does not match then the cable has to be re-adjusted.
