How should the headlights be adjusted on Toyota Sienna?

This procedure applies only to the cars produced till 2006 with normal headlights, while the cars produced after that year have an electrical system of headlight adjustment that includes a thumbwheel. Headlights are the most important; if not rightly positioned, they can totally obscure the view of the other drivers leading to serious accidents or hampering vision. It is recommended that tires should be inspected for turn signal aim every 12 months and every time a new turn signal bulb is installed or front-end body is worked on. Halogen bulb type of headlights has two adjustment screws on the top of each housing. Actual horizontal adjustments that affect the aim were made by a lower mounting nut and a bushing that were used in changing the aim while the nut was used to lock it. A relatively modification technique includes masking tape on the blank wall and a level floor. Vertical tape should be placed to coincide with the vehicle centerline as well as the center of two headlamps while horizontal tape should be placed striving to align it with vehicle centerline and the center of all the headlamps when the car is parked slightly off the wall. The car has to be parked at least 25m far from the wall, stably, with the fuel tank half filled and no heavy payload. For low beam adjustment the high intensity zone should be set two inches below the horizontal line and two inches to the side of the headlight vertical line away from the on coming vehicles by turning the vertical screw clockwise or anti clockwise to raise or lower the beam or by turning the horizontal screw clockwise or anti clockwise to move the beam to the left or right of the headlight vertical line. When the high beams are on , HI ZONE should be placed just below the horizontal line. It may not be feasible to locate the high and low beams perfectly; hence adjust the low beam for the safety of the drivers. It is recommended that assisted adjustment be done by a dealer service department or a service station to avoid further issues with your car's headlights.

Q: How should the headlights be adjusted on Toyota Sienna?

This procedure applies only to the cars produced till 2006 with normal headlights, while the cars produced after that year have an electrical system of headlight adjustment that includes a thumbwheel. Headlights are the most important; if not rightly positioned, they can totally obscure the view of the other drivers leading to serious accidents or hampering vision. It is recommended that tires should be inspected for turn signal aim every 12 months and every time a new turn signal bulb is installed or front-end body is worked on. Halogen bulb type of headlights has two adjustment screws on the top of each housing. Actual horizontal adjustments that affect the aim were made by a lower mounting nut and a bushing that were used in changing the aim while the nut was used to lock it. A relatively modification technique includes masking tape on the blank wall and a level floor. Vertical tape should be placed to coincide with the vehicle centerline as well as the center of two headlamps while horizontal tape should be placed striving to align it with vehicle centerline and the center of all the headlamps when the car is parked slightly off the wall. The car has to be parked at least 25m far from the wall, stably, with the fuel tank half filled and no heavy payload. For low beam adjustment the high intensity zone should be set two inches below the horizontal line and two inches to the side of the headlight vertical line away from the on coming vehicles by turning the vertical screw clockwise or anti clockwise to raise or lower the beam or by turning the horizontal screw clockwise or anti clockwise to move the beam to the left or right of the headlight vertical line. When the high beams are on , HI ZONE should be placed just below the horizontal line. It may not be feasible to locate the high and low beams perfectly; hence adjust the low beam for the safety of the drivers. It is recommended that assisted adjustment be done by a dealer service department or a service station to avoid further issues with your car's headlights.
