To replace a power steering pump, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and using a syringe or suction gun to remove as much fluid as possible from the reservoir. Then, loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and remove the wheel and fender apron seal. Next, disconnect the fluid return hose and pressure line from the pump, remove the drive belt, and finally remove the pump itself. To install the new pump, simply reverse these steps, being sure to tighten all bolts to the proper torque specifications and adjust the drive belt tension. Finally, top up the fluid level in the reservoir and bleed the system.
