To remove the
Oil Pan, first take off the
Timing Belt and lower timing belt idler pulley, followed by the crankshaft sprocket and the oil pick-up tube. Next, unbolt the alternator and set it aside without disconnecting the refrigerant lines, then remove the compressor bracket. Detach the power steering pump by removing the adjusting bar and prying it away from the oil pump body. Use a 10 mm hex bit or Allen wrench to remove the lower timing belt idler pulley, then detach the oil pump from the engine by removing the bolts, prying carefully if necessary. Remove the O-ring and the oil pressure relief valve components, then use a large Phillips screwdriver to take off the screws retaining the body cover of the oil pump, lift the cover, and remove the pump rotors. Clean all components with solvent, inspect for wear and damage, and check the oil pressure relief valve and spring for any issues. Measure the clearance of the driven rotor-to-body, rotor side, and rotor tip using a feeler gauge. For installation, pry out the old
Crankshaft Seal, apply grease or engine oil to the new seal, and drive it into place. Place the drive and driven rotors into the pump body with the marks facing out, pack the pump cavity with petroleum jelly, and install the cover, tightening the screws in a criss-cross pattern. Lubricate the oil pressure relief valve and install its components, then clean the gasket surfaces with acetone or lacquer thinner. Apply a bead of anaerobic sealer to the oil pump, position a new O-ring on the block, engage the oil pump drive rotor with the crankshaft, and slide the pump into place. Install the oil pump mounting bolts and tighten them, then use a new gasket to install the oil pick-up tube. Reinstall the remaining parts in reverse order, add oil, start the engine, check for leaks, and recheck the engine oil level.
