How to Remove and Install a Front Shock Absorber on 2002 through 2008 Toyota Solara?

Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheel and supporting the control arm with a floor jack. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link end from the strut by removing the lower nut, and if removing the strut, also remove the upper nut. Remove the brake hose bracket and, if equipped, the speed sensor wiring harness from the strut, detaching the brake hose from the strut bracket. Detach the speed sensor wiring harness from the strut by removing the clamp bracket bolt, and for models with electronic modulated suspension, remove the shock absorber cap and disconnect the shock absorber wiring harness. If disassembling the strut, loosen the damper shaft nut without removing it, using a special socket if necessary. Remove the strut-to-knuckle nuts to disconnect the lower end of the strut from the steering knuckle, then knock out the bolts with a hammer and punch. Carefully separate the strut from the steering knuckle, avoiding overextension of the inner CV joint and preventing the steering knuckle from falling outward to avoid damaging the brake hose. Support the strut and spring assembly with one hand while removing the three strut-to-shock tower nuts if disassembling the strut, ensuring not to lose the two spacer washers under the shock tower brace. Check the strut body for leaking fluid, dents, cracks, and other damage that may require repair or replacement, and inspect the coil spring for chips or cracks in the coating, as well as the spring seat for cuts and deterioration. If any issues are found, proceed to disassemble the strut. Guide the strut assembly into the fender well, inserting the three upper mounting studs through the shock tower holes, and install the nuts to secure the strut. Slide the steering knuckle into the strut flange, insert the two bolts, and install the nuts, tightening them to the specified torque. Reattach the brake hose bracket to the strut and, if equipped, install the speed sensor wiring harness bracket. Install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque. Finally, tighten the three upper mounting nuts and, if applicable, tighten the center nut of the strut using a special tool, then connect the electrical connector and install the cap.
