Q: How Do You Replace the Receiver/Drier in Air Conditioning System?
A: Have the refrigerant discharged at a dealer service department or an automotive air conditioning repair facility. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Caution: If the stereo in your vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft system, before detaching the cable. Disconnect the A/C accumulator inlet and outlet connections. Cap or plug the open lines immediately. Remove the A/C accumulator from the A/C accumulator holder. Install the A/C accumulator back into the holder. Note: Do not remove the plugs from the fittings until ready for connection. Install the inlet and outlet connections, tighten the connections to the specified torque. If the A/C accumulator was replaced add 0.3 to 0.7 fl. oz. (10 to 20 cc) of compressor oil to the compressor. Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery. Have the air conditioning system evacuated and recharged by a dealer service department or an air conditioning specialist.
