Toyota Supra Door Latch Assembly

The Door Latch Assembly of Toyota Supra keeps each door attached to the body of the vehicle. This prevents unauthorized entry and helps in opening it when needed. The Door Latch Assembly is mounted in the door, and it engages a striker on the Supra doors' frame so that the latch holds the door firmly closed when the car is moving to maintain safety and cabin comfort. The Door Latch Assembly disengages the striker when a door is opened outward when the interior or exterior handle is applied. This reflects a classic Toyota user-friendly function. The mechanism works with locking systems that may be manual or automatic and may work on a single door or as part of a central locking arrangement, but the basic function of the Door Latch Assembly remains unchanged. In the case of the Toyota Supra, the Door Latch Assembly serves as the shared foundation across its left and right doors. With the door kept closed until a deliberate release occurs, it prevents accidental opening along with unwanted entry to further ease day-to-day convenience and security inside the cabin of the Toyota Supra.

Toyota Supra Door Latch Assembly Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the Door Handle,Door Latch Assembly and Door Lock Cylinder on Toyota Supra?
    A:
Remove the door trim panel and service hole cover, then take out the door window glass. Reach in through the door service hole to disconnect the control link from the lock by popping off the nylon clips that secure the connecting rods to the handle and lock cylinder, and then disconnect the rods. Remove the door lock retaining screws from inside the door and take out the door lock along with the solenoid if equipped. For installation, follow the reverse order of removal. When connecting the outside door handle control link to the lock on 1982 through 1986 models, raise the link by 0.020 to 0.039 inch and insert the pin into the lock hole by turning the adjuster. Disconnect the control link and electrical connector from the lock cylinder, then remove the bolt that retains the lock cylinder to the lock, with installation being the reverse of removal. Remove the retaining screw(s) for the handle, rotate it away, and detach it from the door, with installation again being the reverse of removal.
