Disconnect the cable on the minus terminal of the battery, if the stereo has an anti-theft mechanism make sure you have the correct unlocking code. Subsequently, pull out the electrical connectors located on the alternator; afterward, give a few rotations on the alternator locking bolt and adjustment bolt to loosen the drivebelt. Now you have to loosen and take out the locking bolt as well as pivot bolt of the alternator adjustment bracket. If replacing the alternator, remove the old one when buying a new or rebuild one, and they should be an exact fitting in term of terminal number size and position of terminals, and identification numbers. Some of the new or newly remanufactured alternators should not come with a pulley; you may have to borrow the pulley from your old unit; remember to ask the policy of the shop concerning this service. Again, as with removal, installation works in the opposite sequence. Once the alternator has been fitted into place, correct the tension of the drivebelt and measure the charging voltage.
