To remove the driver's seat, move it fully to the rear and remove the lower trim panel covering the foot pedals. Disconnect the inner Accelerator Cable from the top of the pedal by releasing the end fitting and sliding the cable out sideways. Remove the Air Filter Box. Disconnect the inner cable from the quadrant on the throttle body by pivoting the quadrant open and releasing the end fitting. Loosen the adjuster nuts at the throttle body and detach the outer cable from the adjuster/support bracket. If reusing the same cable, measure the exposed thread on the cable adjuster for resetting. Release the cable from the clips in the engine compartment and withdraw it from the bulkhead. To refit, reverse the removal steps, ensuring the cable is routed correctly and secured with all the clips. When reconnecting the cable at each end, adjust it by refitting the outer cable to the support bracket and tightening the nuts by hand. Check that the throttle quadrant moves smoothly from fully closed to fully open and back as the accelerator pedal is depressed and released. If there is excess slack in the cable, use the adjuster nuts to take up the slack, but avoid making it too tight. Take the car for a short road test to confirm correct operation, especially at idle. Note that some modern engine management systems may hold the engine speed above idle even with the accelerator fully released, which is not a sign of cable over-adjustment.
