- A:To remove the engine cover, disconnect the vent hose and vacuum sensing hose, and loosen the clamps securing the air intake duct to the air filter housing and throttle body. Pull the air intake duct away from the housing and throttle body. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector and unclip the air filter cover. Remove the two Air Filter Box mounting bolts, lift up on the housing, and carefully work the air intake snorkel free from its grommet in the right fenderwell. For 1GR-FE V6 engine models, also loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the air intake duct from the Air Filter Box. Disconnect the electrical connector from the MAF sensor, loosen the spring-type clamp, and disconnect the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) fresh air intake hose from the Air Filter Box. Loosen the screw on the hose clamp securing the intake manifold to the throttle body. Remove the Air Filter Box mounting bolts, pull the housing forward, disconnect the vacuum hose from the back of the housing, and remove the Air Filter Box.
