- Q:How do you remove the air filter housing and intake air connector on V6 and four-cylinder Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
- A:On V6 models, start by disengaging the ground wire from the clip on the air intake duct and then loosen the hose clamp screws to disconnect the duct from the fresh air inlet and the air filter box. For the air filter box, remove the engine cover and the air intake duct. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Mass Air Flow/Intake Air Temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor and detach the MAF/IAT sensor harness clip from the air filter box. Loosen the spring-type clamp and disconnect the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) fresh air inlet hose from the air filter box. Loosen the screw on the hose clamp that secures the air filter box to the throttle body. Remove the two air filter box mounting bolts, pull the air filter box forward, disconnect the vacuum hose from the backside of the box, and remove the air filter box. Inspect the air filter box insulator grommets and replace if necessary. For four-cylinder models, loosen the hose clamp screws at the air filter box and at the intake air connector to remove the air intake duct. Inspect the condition of the air intake duct and replace if necessary. Remove the air intake duct and disconnect the electrical connector from the MAF/IAT sensor. Remove the air filter element and detach the ground wire harness clip from the air filter box. Remove the three air filter box mounting bolts and remove the air filter box. For the intake air connector, remove the air intake duct and disconnect the electrical connector from the air injection system air pressure sensor. Disconnect the vacuum hose and the PCV fresh air inlet hose. Loosen the hose clamp that secures the short elbow-shaped intake duct to the throttle body. Detach the electrical harness and the vacuum hose for the air pressure sensor and detach the MAF/IAT sensor harness from the intake air connector.
