Turn the wheel lug nuts to the point where there is some tension but do not take them off, proceed to lift the front of the car and support it with jackstands and then take off the front wheel. Remove the jam nut used to lock the tie-rod end on the tie-rod, and apply clear paint to the thread so as to match with the thread on the new tie-rod end. If yes, take out the cotter pin; then, to undo the tie-rod end stud, free the castellated nut. Transfer to the puller to remove the tie-rod end first from the knuckle and then undo the tie-rod end from the tie rod. Slide the new tie-rod end onto the tie-rod until it butts up against the paint mark than tighten the jam nut. Insert the tie-rod end stud through the steering knuckle then tighten the castellated nut to the torque stated then tap a new cotter pin. It is recommended that the toe-in be set on an alignment lift once the tie-rod is installed, one should take the car to a dealer service department or a shop that does alignments.
