Toyota 23220-47011 Fuel Pump Assembly

The fuel pump module comprises the fuel pump, fuel level sender, pressure regulator, and filter. Check part availability before removal as some may not be replaceable individually. In some models, these components are part of the fuel tank assembly, necessitating full tank replacement if faulty. To replace the module, you can relieve the fuel system pressure, remove the rear seat cushion, disconnect the fuel pump wiring, and remove the access cover. Remove the lock ring and lift out the module, ensuring the O-ring doesn't fall into the tank.

Disconnect the wiring harness clamps from the level sender, then remove the protective sleeves from the wires. Disconnect the wires from the top of the module. Release the wiring lock at the lower part of the module, then slide the fuel sender unit upwards and off. Disconnect the upper fuel pump wiring terminal at the top of the module. Disconnect the fuel pump filter hose. Use a plastic trim tool or a screwdriver wrapped with tape to release the two claws and remove the fuel filter and fuel pump from the lower fuel reservoir. Use the same tool to release the two claws, then remove the fuel suction bracket. Release the five claws and remove the fuel pump and filter. Disconnect the wiring harness from the fuel pump. Remove the fuel pump O-ring and the spacer below it. Carefully pry the fuel pressure regulator and its O-rings from the discharge port of the fuel pump. Installation is the reverse of removal. Align the filter hose with the groove in the side of the reservoir and replace all O-rings with new ones.

Start the engine and note the reading on the gauge.
