    The oxygen sensors in a car are fragile and can be easily damaged. To remove the sensor, jack up the front of the car and support it on axle stands. Trace the wiring back to the connector and disconnect it. Unscrew and remove the sensor using an open-ended spanner or oxygen sensor socket. When reinstalling, clean the threads and tighten to specified torque if possible. Otherwise, hand-tighten with a spanner. Reconnect the wiring, ensuring it is away from the exhaust and moving parts.
