Take of the rear brake discs. Check the remaining thickness of the lining material on the shoes to determine the appropriateness of its usage; if the thickness is less than or equal to 1.0 mm then replace the shoes. Check the drum part of the disc for scoring, grooves, or cracks as a result of heat; if the above characteristics are evident or the disc is worn out, it should be replaced. Rinse the brake parts with brake system cleaner, but ensure that when cleaning the parking brake assembly, use a small brush to remove the brake dust as you position an old container beneath to capture it, and though the process, do not blow off the dust with compressed air. Regarding the brake shoe replacement steps, refer to the illustrated procedure in which one has to remove several springs and other components, measure the distance in millimeters between the parking brake lever and the metal frame of the shoe using feeler gauge, and apply high-temperature brake shoe grease to specific areas. Fit all the rear and front shoes kinematically coupled with the strut, spring, adjuster, and the return springs integrated properly. Torque the two lug nuts with washers used to space the brake disc, then adjust the rear parking brake shoes, put and fix the caliper bracket, and then fix the brake caliper using the bolts tightened to certain torque limits. Last of all, replace the wheels, lower the vehicle to the ground then fasten the wheel lugs to the torque wrench limit ,test the parking brake operation by setting it, antisapping, releasing it and checking or adjusting if un-satisfactory.
