Toyota 48231-AE031 Spring, Coil, Rear

To remove the rear coil springs and shock absorbers, start by loosening the rear wheel lug nuts and raising the rear of the vehicle. Secure it on jack stands and block the front wheels. Remove the wheels. Support the rear axle beam with floor jacks on each side. Remove the lower mounting bolt or nut from each rear shock absorber and pull the shocks from their studs. If necessary, remove the coil springs by lowering the jacks. Take note of how the bottom of the spring fits into its socket on the axle beam. Inspect the vehicle's stance and the coil springs for any damage. To install the new components, place the insulators on the top of the coil springs and insert the bottom of the springs into their sockets on the rear axle beam. Raise the jacks until the springs and insulators fit securely into the body. Secure the lower shock absorber eyes with mounting bolts. Install the wheels and lug nuts. Raise the jacks, remove the jack stands, and lower the vehicle. Finally, tighten the lug nuts.
