About Toyota Coil Springs

Keep that spring in your car's step! A Toyota coil spring supports the weight of your vehicle, and assists to keep your ride comfortable. It is a kind of torsion bar spring that absorbs shock, expands and compresses, all in an effort to accommodate the differing road, cornering and handling conditions that you encounter. When a coil spring is rebounding appropriately, your vehicle will maintain a comfortable ride, and it will stay at its appropriate ride height. You will find coil springs at every suspension corner of your vehicle, behind the wheel.
Extremely harsh road conditions coupled with spring corrosion is a sure way to bet that a coil spring can become fractured and break. In order to safely remove a Toyota suspension coil spring, it will have to be compressed using a specialized tool called a spring compressor. Although this repair does have to be performed in some cases, it is not very common. The service life expectancy of a coil spring is quite long and it is designed to last for hundreds of thousands of miles. If it happens to break it is best to replace it with a brand new Toyota coil spring.
There are too many Toyota genuine OEM parts online stores. However, when you Google it, you are guided to here. There are some reasons why we can beat all of them. First, we provide you competitive and affordable price, and the amount showing on the website is up to 33% off MSRP. Second, we have dedicated service, no matter for part question support or customer service, and we have professional and hard-working staff ready to assist you. Third, we offer no-hassle return. Once the part is damaged or no longer needed, all you need do is to follow the instruction, and it is so easy.

Toyota Coil Springs Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the coil springs on 2003 through 2009 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts and raise the rear of the vehicle, supporting it securely on jackstands while blocking the front wheels to prevent rolling. Remove the wheels and support the rear axle with a pair of floor jacks, placing one under each axle tube. Disconnect the shock absorbers from the axle and the brake hoses from the brake lines, taking care not to damage the hoses if they remain connected. Slowly lower the rear axle housing just enough to remove the coil springs, ensuring not to damage the brake lines, parking brake cables, or wire harnesses for the rear wheel speed sensors; disconnect the rear wheel speed sensor harnesses if necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the lower end of each coil spring is seated properly on the spring seat, and tighten all suspension fasteners to the specified torque, securing the brake line fittings if needed. If the brake lines were disconnected, bleed the brake system and finally, tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
  • Q: How to replace the Coil Springs and Shock Absorber on Toyota Highlander?
A: The procedure that follows applies to strut assemblies that are not incorporated into electronically modulated air suspension. If the struts or coil springs show any signs of leakage, loss of damping force or any form of physical damage look at all the possibilities before beginning any work, as the strut/shock absorber assemblies are non-repairable units and if a problem is evident, the only solution is replacement. Preassembled strut assemblies including springs may be procured on an exchange basis, where available, which is convenient. But when disassembling the vehicle, see if the parts are fairly priced or if they are easily available in the market. To dismantle, remove the strut and spring assembly before fixing in a wooden or padded vice and don't over-tighten. Fit a spring compressor in the way that the manufacturer directs so that pressure is removed from the upper spring seat, this can be confirmed by shaking the spring. Remove the nut of the damper shaft and suspension support, check the rotation of the bearing and the state of the rubber. Detaching the top of the spring seat to the damper shaft-consider if it is cracked and its hardness-then take out the upper insulator. Remove the compressed spring from the assembly being careful not to point its ends towards your self and remove the rubber bumper of the damper shaft. Inspect the lower insulator; if worn, replace the lower insulator with a new one. For reassembly, if fitting a new lower insulator fix this into place and then protrude the damper rod and finally fit the rubber bumper. Position the coil spring in such a manner that one end of it will sit in the lower insulator. Place the upper insulator with the mark to be oriented towards the strut bracket and then fit the spring seat to the damper shaft you should see the flat of the two parts interlocking. OUT mark of the spring upper seat should be placed on the upper insulator mark and the arrow on the spring seat should be facing the lower bracket in case of front struts. Bolt the outer dust seal and suspension support to the damper shaft, apply and tighten the damper nut to the prescribed torque, withdraw the spring compressor tool and re-fit the strut/spring assembly.
  • Q: How to Remove and Install Coil Springs on a 1995-2004 Toyota Tacoma?
A: Remove the lower control arm. Next, take out the compressed coil spring. If replacing the spring, slowly loosen the spring compressor tool until the spring is fully extended. Install the tool on the new spring and compress it sufficiently to allow for the installation of the lower control arm. Finally, installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring that all suspension fasteners are tightened to the specified torque.
