Models with power windows and door locks require you to disconnect the negative battery cable, leaving the anti-theft audio system default mode configured when removing the battery. Remove the door trim panel and water shield. Remove the door glass. When taking out a window regulator (except the one in 4Runner back doors), first disconnect the electrical motor wires and then use a wrench to loosen the six holding bolts. Start by removing the door latch and outside handle from the 4Runner rear door. Next, unplug the electrical connector, pull out the regulator assembly by removing its four securing bolts, and finish by pulling it out. Put everything back the same way you took them apart. Spread multipurpose grease on roller parts, then tighten all screws until they stay put.
