Relieve the fuel system pressure, then remove the fuel filler cap to relieve the fuel tank pressure. Next, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. If the tank is full or nearly full, siphon the fuel into an approved container using a siphoning kit. Remove the rear seat cushion, then raise the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. Disconnect the parking brake cable mounting fasteners. If necessary on 2012 and later V6 models, remove the No. 1 air inlet, followed by the air resonator, releasing the resonator clamp, turning out the mounting bolts, and noting the location of any vacuum line or electrical connectors. Remove the lower floor pan cover mounting fasteners and covers, if present. Detach the exhaust system from the center exhaust pipe to the rear of the vehicle. Disconnect the electrical connector and fuel line from the fuel pump module, then disconnect the fuel filler hose from the fuel tank fittings, plugging the hoses to prevent leakag. Remove the rear stabilizer bar mounting brackets and reposition the bar. Take out the four fasteners securing the exhaust heat shield below the fuel tank. Support the fuel tank with a floor jack, using a sturdy plank between the jack and the tank. Remove the bolts from the fuel tank straps, disconnect the vent hose at the rear of the tank, and any other hoses or wiring harnesses attached. Finally, remove the tank from the vehicle. To reinstall, simply reverse the previous steps.
