Rem out the negative cable from the battery and remove the wire harness from the oxygen sensor. If a new manifold is to be fitted then remove the sensor. Third, to get to the steps of exhaust manifold gasket replacement, obtain the exhaust manifold heat insulator and then unscrew the exhaust manifold heat insulator bolts. Spray penetrating oil on the exhaust manifold mounting nuts and bolts and then take off the exhaust manifold brace. These include removing some connection pipes from the exhaust manifold or catalytic converter and in some models, loosening the front exhaust pipe may require removal of the suspension cross-member while carrying out the activity, the recommended safety precautions should be followed to the letter. To unbolt the manifold and gasket; for the 3S-FE and 5S-FE engines, the manifold comes off with the catalytic converter. In particular when repairing the 3S-FE or 5S-FE power plant, the connection between the converter and the manifold should be cut if necessary. The manifold and cylinder head mating surface to be free from any remnants of the previous gasket and any carbon deposits and should be scraped thin of any aluminum cylinder head. Reconnect with a new gasket, if the effector or the manifold on a 3S-FE as well as 5S-FE was detached. Install a new exhaust manifold gasket to the cylinder head studs due to the fact that the marks on 3S-FE and 3S-GE engines' gasket faces out while the arrow point to the rear of the engine. Fix the manifold and screw the mounting nuts and bolts correctly and tighten them to the standard torque by using three or four equal passes. Replace the rest of the parts in the sequence in which they were removed and start the engine to examine for exhaust leaks.
