To remove the A/C Compressor, the refrigerant must be discharged and the negative cable disconnected from the battery. The front of the vehicle should be raised and supported on jack stands, and the engine under cover (if equipped) should be removed. The drive belt from the compressor should also be removed, followed by detaching the wiring connector and disconnecting the refrigerant lines. Finally, the compressor can be unbolted and lifted from the vehicle. To install a new or rebuilt compressor, follow the directions supplied with the compressor regarding the proper level of oil prior to installation. Replace any O-rings with new ones specifically made for R-134a refrigerant and lubricate them with the same oil. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested.
