Toyota does not publish primary or secondary resistance specifications for the ignition coil units used on these models, and the only way to check them is by substituting a known good unit, which isn't feasible for a home mechanic since electrical components cannot be returned once purchased. If all other possible causes of an ignition malfunction have been eliminated, a defective ignition coil or igniter unit is likely the issue, but verification requires substitution with a known good unit. To proceed, first remove the engine cover and disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Next, disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the coil(s) and remove the mounting bolt(s). Carefully withdraw each coil from the cylinder head, and installation is the reverse of removal.
